Canisters of tear gas used to quell Egyptian uprising and made in the United States

The Egyptian Tsunami of people power is moving so rapidly that the walls of the Old World Order, based on control and military force, cannot hold it in check. The hypocrisy of our selling lethal tear gas canisters to Israel and Egypt to be used to disperse the huge crowds demanding freedom from oppression is indicative of the United State’s morally flawed foreign policy of supporting dictators and suppressing freedom throughout the Middle East: Allen L Roland

It’s Super Bowl Sunday which rings hollow compared to the events that are now rapidly unfolding in the Middle East. American exceptionalism may well be having its last feeble hurrah in Dallas,Texas today where the Steelers meet the Packers ~ for the eyes and ears of most of the world are really trained on Tahrir Square in Cairo, Egypt where US-Israel shared hegemony is having its greatest test against the rising power of the people.

These are heady times in the Middle East as the people of Egypt seize their moment on the world stage and flaunt their demands and grievances to a Middle East audience that has yearned for another choice versus continued oppression from the west and their corrupt puppet governments ~ like Egypt.

What goes around, comes around and the failure of both the Bush and Obama administrations to halt the obvious ethnic cleansing of Palestinians by Israel as well as the murder of tens of thousands of innocent Muslims in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan has rightfully infuriated Muslims throughout the Middle East and does not bode well for Israel and the West.

President Obama is not a change agent, Obama is obviously a maintainer of the status quo who answers to the financial elite and the old world order. Right now, Obama’s only choice is to embrace change or be eventually overrun by it ~ there is no more room to straddle or equivocate as he most assuredly will do now under obvious pressure from Israel and AIPAC.

As the Egyptian Tsunami gains strength, it appears that the Mubarak / Suleiman regime will eventually attempt to keep their power through coercion or force ~ CLG reveals that The International Network for Rights and Development has claimed that Israeli logistical support has been sent to Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak to help his regime confront demonstrations. According to reports by the non-governmental organization, three Israeli planes landed at Cairo's Mina International Airport on Saturday carrying hazardous equipment for use in dispersing and suppressing large crowds. In the statement circulated by the International Network, it was disclosed that Egyptian security forces received the complete cargoes on three Israeli planes which were, it is claimed, carrying an abundant supply of internationally proscribed tear gas to disperse unwanted crowds ~ and made in the United states.

It won’t work because this powerful people Tsunami is fueled by the poor, the youth and the disenfranchised of Egypt who have nothing to lose and long for their voice ~ for quite simply, the masses of the poor have been left behind in Egypt. The middle class has actually gone backward leaving a small financial elite at the top who benefit from whatever economic progress there is. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it ~ the unholy marriage of power and capital which fits the description of the whole capitalist world and in particular, the United States ~ where the Tsunami will eventually reach.

As Roger Cohen writes in the New York Times ~ “ Egypt’s not alone in seeing the gulf between its wealthy and the rest widen; that’s a global trend. But in a country of 83 million where almost 30 percent of the population is still illiterate, and the big bucks have often depended on an entrée to Mubarak’s son, Gamal, or his circle, the pattern has been particularly inflammatory…Egypt had a Western-backed free-market economy run by a family with contempt for freedom: That’s problematic. It puts the global forces concentrating wealth into overdrive in the service of the chosen few… . All of this raises a question: In the name of what exactly has the United States been ready to back and fund an ally whose contempt for the law, fake democracy and gross theft flout everything for which America stands? “

Cohen concludes his article with this telling story ~ “ In Tahrir Square, the mini-republic that is the Egyptian uprising’s ground zero, I ran into Seif Salmawy, the managing director of a publishing company. He was smiling; I asked why. “Suddenly we are human beings,” he said. “We think we can decide and that what we decide has worth and that we have some value as humans. However, the real cause of the revolutionary tide that will probably soon sweep the Arab world is Palestine. Let an Israeli, like Israeli writer and founder of the Gush Shalom peace movement, Uri Avnery, tell you that what is happening now in Egypt will forever change the Middle East ~ “ The turmoil in Egypt was caused by economic factors: the rising cost of living, the poverty, the unemployment, the hopelessness of the educated young. But let there be no mistake: the underlying causes are far more profound. They can be summed up in one word: Palestine…In Arab culture, nothing is more important than honor. People can suffer deprivation, but they will not stand humiliation…. Yet what every young Arab from Morocco to Oman saw daily was his leaders humiliating themselves, forsaking their Palestinian brothers in order to gain favor and money from America, collaborating with the Israeli occupation, cringing before the new colonizers. This was deeply humiliating for young people brought up on the achievements of Arab culture in times gone by and the glories of the early Caliphs… Nowhere was this loss of honor more obvious than in Egypt, which openly collaborated with the Israeli leadership in imposing the shameful blockade on the Gaza Strip, condemning 1.5 million Arabs to malnutrition and worse. It was never just an Israeli blockade, but an Israeli-Egyptian one, lubricated by 1.5 billion US dollars every year… A dictator may be tolerated when he reflects national dignity. Mubarak is a shamed dictator without roots and the strong wind of an empowered and outraged people is blowing him over as Avnery eloquently concludes ~ “ When Egypt moves, the Arab world follows. Whatever transpires in the immediate future in Egypt ­ democracy or an army dictatorship - It is only a matter of (a short) time before the dictators fall all over the Arab world, and the masses will shape a new reality, without the generals…Everything the Israeli leadership has done in the last 44 years of occupation or 63 years of its existence is becoming obsolete. We are facing a new reality. We can ignore it ­ insisting that we are "a villa in the jungle", as Ehud Barak famously put it ­ or find our proper place in the new reality. Peace with the Palestinians is no longer a luxury. It is an absolute necessity. Peace now, peace quickly. The perfect storm of rising people power versus the Old World Order is now developing in Egypt but its true origins are in the ongoing humiliation of Palestine which touches a deep chord of humiliation throughout the Muslim world.

Let's make this crystal clear ~ The Bush/Blair illegal war against Iraq was the willful planned destruction of a civilization and the same consciousness is obviously at work in the Obama/Patraeus ongoing dismemberment of Afghanistan.

The Iraq war was driven by an influencial group of neo-conservative and neo-liberal ideologues with strong ties to Israel. They viewed the success of the Iraq war ( by success they meant the total dismemberment of the country ) as the first ' domino' in a series of wars to ' re-colonize' the MIddle East .. The cost of this ongoing destruction is staggering ~ not just in dollars but in the intellectual cost of the peak assassination campaigns of 2006 and 2007. Atleast 210 lawyers and judges have been assassinated since the 2003 invasion. As Petras points out ~ " the raw data on the Iraqi academics, scientists and professionals assassinated by the US and allied occupation forces and the militias and shadowy forces they control is drawn from a list published by Pakistan Daily news ( www.daily.pk ) on November 26,2008. Obviously this list makes for very uncomfortable reading into the the reality of systematic elimination of intellectuals in Iraq under the meat-grinder of US occupation."

Here's the current state of Iraq according to SFGate.com but note these figures are very similar to occupied Gaza.

Health: Iraq's child mortality rate has increased by 150% since 1990, when U.N. sanctions were first imposed.

Education: By 2008, only 50% of primary school-age children were attending class, down from 80% in 2005, and approximately 1,500 children were known to be held in detention facilities.

Children: In 2007, there were 5 million Iraqi orphans~ according to government officials.

Refugees: More than two million Iraqis are refugees and almost three million internally displaced : 33% percent ( 500,000 people ) live as squatters in slum areas.

Water: 70% of Iraqis do not have access to potable water.

Jobs: Unemployment is as high as 50% officially, 70% unofficially.

Poverty: 43% of Iraqis live in abject poverty.

Sanitation: 80% of Iraqis do not have access to effective sanitation.

The US has not only destroyed a modern Arab Civilization in Iraq but has also created an inhuman concentration camp, similar to Gaza, in the process. Our karmic debt is immeasurable and it is written on the faces and hearts of millions of refugees who will not forget or forgive either America or our partners for this crime ~ Great Britain and, of course, our silent partner Israel with its own immeasurable karmic debt in Gaza.

The Jewish dilemma is that their worn out victim card, Netanyahu's arrogance and his right wing political allies are already steam rolling Israel toward total isolation and the very real possibility of a desperate radical move away from the United States and toward unilateral action against Iran: Allen L Roland

Netanyahu and his political allies are convinced that at least momentarily they will do better without the United States. Erdogan is gaining worldwide popularity as a charismatic Muslim leader and he has called for the categorical punishment of the Israeli leaders responsible for the disastrous Freedom Flotilla raid and is now backing the global efforts to end the 3-year-long siege of the Gaza strip.

Columnist Bernard Weiner rightfully compares Netanyahu to George W Bush ~ " In a way, Netanyahu is Bush in a yarmulke. He is so uncomfortable dealing with the complexities of real-life situations that he quickly resorts to his default black-and-white solution: military violence. Which, as was the case with Bush, makes him a reckless, dangerous leader, one with tunnel vision focusing mostly on short-term gain and to hell with history."

But Norman Finklestein, who fully understands the myth of Israeli exceptionalism, captures the true Israeli dilemma of being a self-proclaimed Victim State ~ " The holocaust has proven to be an indispensable ideological weapon through its deployment ( by Israel ). One of the world's most formidable military powers, with an horrendous human rights record, has cast itself as a ' Victim State ' and the most successful ethnic group in the US has likewise acquired victim status. Considerable dividends accrue from this specious victim hood ~ in particular, Immunity to Criticism, however justified. "

And therein lies the true Jewish Dilemma ~ and there it will fester until Israel takes full accountability for its actions as well as its place in a world of civil, responsible and cooperating nations. Israel pays a price for continually playing the victim card ~ and now it increasingly looks like that card is the Queen of Spades ( the Death card ).

The boats carried no arms; the participants strictly adhered to Ghandian mode by asking the Greek and Cyprus authorities to search the boats to avoid later claims that they were armed. It did not help them ~ the Zionist pirates boarded the boats in the high seas, and they turned the boats into killing fields.
"They attacked us as we boarded their vessel, and we killed them in self-defence", claimed the murderers afterwards, and thousands of willing accessories to the murder repeated this nonsense. An intruder can't claim self - defense for the Peace activists were entitled to defend themselves against the unlawful attack.


The Guardian newspaper editorial correctly stated: "the responsibility for the bloodshed was entirely Israel's. The Israeli navy said they were forced to open fire to avoid being lynched. What did the commandos expect pro-Palestinian activists to do once they boarded the ships ­ invite them aboard for a cup of tea with the captain on the bridge?"

The Netanyahu government appears to be in crisis after the recent seizure of the humanitarian Peace flotilla enroute to Gaza ~ a seizure which apparently had the blessings of the Obama administration.
"Senior ministers of the Netanyahu cabinet have been sharply critical of the fact that the decision to seize control of the flotilla to Gaza was made after two meetings of the forum of seven senior ministers but without official deliberation by the inner cabinet, the body that has the authority to approve military actions of this scale." What this suggests is that the actual decision to conduct the raids in international waters bypassed the Cabinet."

What were the respective roles of Israeli intelligence and the IDF in planning these raids?
What role was played by Rahm Emanuel, Obama's White House Chief of Staff, who had meetings with both Netanyahu and president Shimon Peres, respectively on May 26 and 27?
Did Rahm Emanuel meet officials of Israel's military and intelligence establishment?
Did the Obama administration give the Green Light?

Of course, Obama gave the green light and Rahm Emanuel obviously set the stage with his meetings with both Peres and Netanyahu on May 26th and 27th ~ which explains Obama's muted reaction to the Flotilla attack.

It's classic good cop, bad cop. We're the good cop and Israel is the bad cop but the intention is the same ~ domination and control of the Middle East. The Zionists are in control in Israel, for now, and Obama's Zionist minder is unquestionably Rahm Emanuel. Congress, who celebrated Israel's deadly flotilla raid, answers to AIPAC and not the American people ~ who were generally horrified by this blatant Israeli attack.

It is important that this news gets out, with a view to ensuring that the Rachel Corrie MV safely reaches the coast of Gaza next week, without encroachment, with a view to breaking Israel's criminal embargo and siege.

For its part, the Arab international committee for the reconstruction of Gaza said that it started to receive hundreds of requests from different people and parties around the world asking for participating in and providing support for Freedom Flotilla 2, which will sail for Gaza in the next few weeks.

Gilad Atzmon speaks for all humanitarians when he says:

We all know about the devastation in Gaza, we know about the siege, the destruction and the crimes against humanity…In case the Israelis fail to see it, they are dealing with an international flotilla that is sailing under Turkish and Greek flags, a fleet that carries 800 enthusiastic activists from all over the world. The Israelis are dealing with peace lovers who are determined to break through the siege and deliver medical aid, cement, paper and food. On the deck we have 35 European parliamentarians who must have decided to say NO to Zionist fund raisers. This flotilla is a clear signal to Israel that the game is over. Israel is now all but officially isolated. All that is left for Israel is to come to terms with its true nature: a shameless racist, murderous and terrorist state…. The Israeli government and the Israeli people better start to come to terms that the game is soon to be over. The Zionist project and the Israeli state is in a state of moral bankruptcy.”

2010 EASTER MESSAGE / TAKE DOWN THIS WALL, BIBI

The apartheid walls of Jerusalem were breached on Palm Sunday by over 100 native Palestinian Christians and Muslims including Israelis carrying palm leaves and banners asking for freedom of worship and movement ~ as demanded by international law and denied by Israeli PM Bibi Netanyahu: Allen L Roland

What would be more appropriate this Easter 2010 than to quote Gaza’s courageous Fr Manuel Musallam ~ in which he delivers a blistering Easter attack on Israel’s occupation and its rape of the holy sites, as well as his rightful damning indictment of the silence of the cowards in the West.

Fr Manuel Musallam recently retired at the age of 71 after serving as the parish priest of the Holy Family Church in Gaza for 14 years. For most of that time the Israelis would not allow him to visit his family and friends in the West Bank. So, in spite of failing health, he soldiered on through the devastating siege and the murderous blitzkrieg.

I was privileged to meet him a couple of years ago and I just love the way this man speaks out. He doesn't mince words. He tells it the way it is, with truth and style.

Retirement hasn’t silenced him or dimmed his perceptions.

This Easter he's concerned, as always, about the occupation and how it robs those in the Holy Land of Easter's message of hope and joy:

" We Christians of Palestine have been under occupation for many long years. We’ve been suffering with bitterness at being kept away from the Holy Sites. We’ve been denied our right to worship in Jerusalem. Many Christian generations have never been able to reach Jerusalem to visit its holy places.

The occupation has been continuously imposing unlawful obstacles. This year, we are confronted by the Israeli Apartheid Separation Wall, checkpoints and roadblocks guarded by Israeli soldiers denying us movement and access to Jerusalem.

All these measures not only suffocate the Palestinian people, but also asphyxiate peace in Israel and Palestine.

Fr Manuel explains how Palestinians are denied the freedom to worship as and where they please, even at Easter. In particular, they are prevented from going into Jerusalem. The Zionist claim that Palestine was “a land without a people for a people without a land” has had a disastrous impact on the Palestinians. "It does not mean that Jerusalem is without a people, but rather it should be evacuated to be handed over to another people." David Ben Gurion himself articulated that plan in 1937 when he declared: 'We must expel Arabs and take their places.'”

Father Manuel offers ~ "Every stone built in the Apartheid Wall, every axe strike digging under the Al-Aqsa Mosque and every house destroyed by Israel will increase the intensity of resistance and resentfulness. However, cooperation with Palestinians will give Israel the hope for a future, dominated by serenity and peacefulness."

" We lament Jerusalem, and miss its beautiful ceremonies. This year thousands of tourists will weep with us. They will not be able to march the “Way of the Cross” with Palestinians. There will be no national Palestinian folklore to discover or Arab religious crafts to take with them as gifts, and no local prayers, hymns and music to experience in the warm faith of believers in Palestine. They will be shocked entering the Holy Sepulchre to find Israeli police inside..."

" We do not foresee any political settlement, or an end to occupation, or hope for the return of Palestinian refugees, or the forming of our state with Jerusalem as its capital, or the right to self-determination, or the liberation of thousands of prisoners, free access and movement, an end to Gaza siege, and the dismantling of the Apartheid Wall around Jerusalem.

We are appalled by the continuous threats of more war. And we are distressed by the daily humiliation, hunger, thirst, unemployment and the absence of sustainable development in our country. "

" Jerusalem is ours. It is not a disputed land. We are not soliciting to share the legacy and heritage of Jerusalem with Israel or with anyone else.

" We do not accept the speech of Israeli leaders that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and that building in it is no different from building in Tel Aviv. Occupation is a sin and a form of terrorism, and when relying on the texts of the Torah to kill people or expel and remove them from their land it rises to the level of a crime against humanity. All perpetrators should be judged by the International Criminal Court before being judged by the just court of God. "

In his appeal to the world this Easter, what seems to worry Fr Manuel most is how the dwindling numbers that are now allowed to reach the holy sites might cause them to be turned into historic monuments or even destroyed. In the eyes of Israeli leaders, these places are “pagan sites” and whoever destroys them is brought closer to God. The Zionist Jewish leader Theodore Herzl said: “If one day we recover Jerusalem and I am still able to do anything when we do so, my first action will be to cleanse it thoroughly. I will remove everything that is not holy and burn the monuments that are centuries old.”


Father Manuel continues ~ " Our people in Gaza are treated like animals in a zoo. They eat but remain hungry; they cry, but no one wipes their tears. There is no water, no electricity, no food, only fear, terror and blockade... Our children are living in a state of trauma and fear. They are sick from it and for other reasons such as malnutrition, poverty and the cold... The hospitals did not have basic first aid before the war and now thousands of wounded and sick are pouring in and they are performing operations in the corridors. The situation is frightening and sad....

In exasperation he added: “May Christ's compassion revive our love for God even though it is currently in 'intensive care'."
