THE JEWISH DILEMMA

The Jewish dilemma is that their worn out victim card, Netanyahu's arrogance and his right wing political allies are already steam rolling Israel toward total isolation and the very real possibility of a desperate radical move away from the United States and toward unilateral action against Iran: Allen L Roland

Israeli political activist and columnist, Gilad Atzmon writes that Israel P.M. Netanyahu and his political allies are convinced that at least momentarily they will do better without the United States. They realise that the days of the ' Jewish-only state ’ are numbered unless some radical moves are put into action ~ and they are apparently blinded to the consequences of world opinion. http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article25095.htm

However, it is bullyboy Bibi Netanyahu who needs to be brought up short but it won't be by President Obama and his Isaeli minder, Rahm Emanuel ~ but it could well be by world opinion and the determined leadership of Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Erdogan is gaining worldwide popularity as a charismatic Muslim leader and he has called for the categorical punishment of the Israeli leaders responsible for the disastrous Freedom Flotilla raid and is now backing the global efforts to end the 3-year-long siege of the Gaza strip.

Columnist Bernard Weiner rightfully compares Netanyahu to George W Bush ~ " In a way, Netanyahu is Bush in a yarmulke. He is so uncomfortable dealing with the complexities of real-life situations that he quickly resorts to his default black-and-white solution: military violence. Which, as was the case with Bush, makes him a reckless, dangerous leader, one with tunnel vision focusing mostly on short-term gain and to hell with history."

But Norman Finklestein, who fully understands the myth of Israeli exceptionalism, captures the true Israeli dilemma of being a self-proclaimed Victim State ~ " The holocaust has proven to be an indispensable ideological weapon through its deployment ( by Israel ). One of the world's most formidable military powers, with an horrendous human rights record, has cast itself as a ' Victim State ' and the most successful ethnic group in the US has likewise acquired victim status. Considerable dividends accrue from this specious victim hood ~ in particular, Immunity to Criticism, however justified. "

And therein lies the true Jewish Dilemma ~ and there it will fester until Israel takes full accountability for its actions as well as its place in a world of civil, responsible and cooperating nations. Israel pays a price for continually playing the victim card ~ and now it increasingly looks like that card is the Queen of Spades ( the Death card ).
