MAINSTREAM MEDIA IS ESTABLISHMENT TOOL

The establishment controlled Mainstream Media rules America with raving right wing partisans, sex scandals, Sarah Palin and a steady dose of Obama Kool-Aid while the real news can only be accessed through the Internet : Allen L Roland

There is a reason I do not have a television set and seldom read the Mainstream Media. The reason is I’m a truth seeker and truth teller and I, and million of Americans, now realize that we cannot find the truth in the establishment controlled mainstream media ~ and that President Obama answers to Wall Street and the mainstream establishment.

Here’s a perfect example ~ Here is a short synopsis of 5 WikiLeaks 2011 world wide news revelations that the American mainstream media is virtually ignoring, courtesy of AlterNet’s Rania Khalek; "5 WikiLeaks Hits of 2011 That Are Turning the World on Its Head -- And That the Media Are Ignoring “

Let's also take Libya where The Pentagon and its NATO partners are engaged in one of the most obvious and intensive propaganda ploys in their military operations since the days leading up to the "Coalition of the Willing" attack on Iraq.

As Wayne Madsen reports on June 8th ~ “
There has been no mention by the Western media, in their zeal to promote the Pentagon and NATO line, that some Libyan rebels acceded to the government's offer of an amnesty if the rebels gave up their weapons. After rebels handed over their weapons in Misrata and in the western mountains, NATO increased its bombings of the two regions…Neither is there mention of the disposal of the bodies of the victims of rebel violence: the mass burning of bodies of victims to erase any trace of crimes against humanity committed by the U.S.- and NATO-backed rebel forces…As we have seen in Libya, and before, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank,Darfur, Rwanda, Somalia, and Yemen~modern-day corporate journalists are mere stenographers for their corporate masters who, in turn, control the puppet strings for the marionettes in Washington, Brussels, London, Paris, Rome and Berlin.” See article ~

Meanwhile, The financial cost of the U.S. campaign in Libya is set to exceed $750 million, according to a leaked Department of Defense Memo. The 'eyes-only' DoD dossier said the U.S. had already spent $664 million in Libya by mid-May - a running cost of $60 million a month since the bombing began in March. At the current rate of spending, the U.S. will have to shell out at least an extra $274 million till the end of the current 90 day no fly zone extension period - bringing total expenditure to a minimum of $938 million.

And why is all of this information available to the world and American public, if they choose to read it?

Because, as Glenn Greenwald ( Salon ) writes ~ “ The reason ~ the only reason ~ we know about any of this is because WikiLeaks (and, allegedly, Bradley Manning) disclosed to the world the diplomatic cables which detail these conflicts. Virtually the entirety of the Post article -- like most significant revelations over the last 12 months, especially in the Middle East and North Africa~ are based exclusively on WikiLeaks disclosures.”

The only antidote for the shameless propaganda and hypocrisy of the Mainstream Press is transparency and the truth ~ which the Obama administration and the establishment continually avoid ~ because Americans don’t demand it or perhaps don't want to hear.

As such, the only Presidential candidate who is a veteran and opposes not only our illegal occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan as well as our now illegal participation in regime change in Libya is Ron Paul. The mainstream press is scared to death of a Ron Paul presidency which is why they ignore him ~ but the American public is increasingly responding to his anti-establishment message.

True conservatives, Independents and even progressives, who are no longer drinking the Obama Kool-Aid ~ such as myself and Justin Raimondo ~ see Ron Paul in a far different light during these turbulent times when truth and transparency are at a premium.

Here’s Raimondo’s take on Ron Paul on June 9th ~ “As libertarianism becomes more visible, politically, and gains ground in the GOP, the enemies of freedom are poised – on both the right and the left – for the attack. Libertarians have never had to deal with this problem before, in the main because their movement was considered marginal, if it was considered at all. Today, however, the situation is quite different: a wave of “anti-government” (i.e. pro-freedom) sentiment is sweeping the country, and the realization that libertarians were the original tea-partiers – coupled with the electoral success of that populist upsurge – has the Establishment in a panic. What we’re seeing is a two-pronged, left-right attack on libertarians, with the initial forays in the foreign policy realm.

The main thrust of the attack is naturally directed at the leader of the libertarian movement, the man who has done the most to make libertarianism a significant political force in the modern world, and that man is Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas). Ron has single-handedly raised the profile of the movement way beyond what anyone imagined only a few years ago. A lot of this has to do with Ron’s prescient warnings about the state of the economy, and the bursting of the real estate bubble, which have given him the kind of authority he never enjoyed in all the years spent crying in the wilderness.

However, Ron’s prescience isn’t limited to economics: unlike most conservatives, Ron was clear from the very beginning that our foreign policy of global intervention would blow back in our faces some day, and the 9/11 terrorist attacks confirmed his view in a way that was not, at first, readily apparent. Yet Ron kept making this point, even in the wake of the war hysteria that followed the attacks, and ten years anon – as a war-weary and dead broke America staggers and seems about to fall – his views are seen as prophetic rather than marginal....” See complete article ~

The mainstream media is on the verge of irrelevance for the truth has revealed that it is mainly a tool of the establishment. The more we seek the truth, the more this discrepancy will become obvious ~ as well as those who misuse it. Wikileaks, as such, is providing tough independent media for those who actively seek truth and transparency ~ establishment and main stream media be damned.

WIKILEAKS CONFIRMS AMERICA'S FEAR BASED DIPLOMACY

Wikileaks has confirmed to the world that the Emperor is naked but America has yet to hold up the mirror to witness the extent of its own moral bankruptcy: Allen L Roland

There is a tide in the affairs of men
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.

Julius Caesar Act 4, scene 3, 218–224

The good ship America is leaking badly and Wikileaks has confirmed the extent of our miseries and moral bankruptcy. Does the Obama administration have the courage to look at itself and the outdated fear-based Cheney/Bush policies and diplomacy it inherited ~ and instead ride the rising tide of transparency and truth or will it continue to be bound in the shallows of moral and financial irrelevance in a rapidly uniting and interdependent world?

America is at an important moral crossroads and Wikileaks has helped set the stage for Americans to fully grasp this moment. Wikileaks began on Sunday November 28th publishing 251,287 leaked United States embassy cables, the largest set of confidential documents ever to be released into the public domain. The documents gave the world an unprecedented insight into US Government foreign activities.

The cables, which date from 1966 up until the end of February of 2010, contain confidential communications between 274 embassies in countries throughout the world and the State Department in Washington DC. and 15,652 of the cables are classified Secret.

In summary, The cables show the extent of US spying on its allies and the UN; the blatant turning a blind eye to corruption and human rights abuse in its "client states"; the backroom deals with supposedly neutral countries; and the measures US diplomats take to advance those who have access to them ~ but now let’s concentrate on the flagship of the Obama Administration’s moral disintegration ~ Afghanistan.

This in now Obama’s Occupation ( not War ) and yesterday’s surprise three hour cheerleading visit to the troops at Bagram air base, Afghanistan must be seen in relationship to Wikileaks revealing the staggering scale of Afghan corruption. Transparency International, an advocacy organization that tracks government corruption around the globe, ranks Afghanistan as the world’s third most corrupt country ~ only Somalia and Myanmar are ranked above it.

The Wikileaks cables describe a country where everything is for sale ~ where corruption, fueled by an illicit narcotics industry, pervades every level of Afghan society from the illegally elected and American stooge President Hamid Karzai to the province governors and largely unregulated banking infrastructure.

Obama’s quick visit comes amid tensions with Karzai and conflicting reports about the progress of the U.S.-led campaign to reverse Taliban gains in Afghanistan ~ who are increasingly being seen by the populace as freedom fighters against the American and UN occupiers.

The last refuge of a scoundrel is patriotism and Obama has proved himself as adept as his predecessor, George W Bush, in draping himself around the troops and the flag ~ particularly when things are not going politically well.

The first step in transformation is the truth and transparency and Wikileaks has provided a needed, if somewhat vetted, platform for the truth to work its way to the surface of our consciousness~ particularly regarding our incredibly expensive and draining occupation of Afghanistan.

As such, Wikileaks has helped to fully expose how US fear based diplomacy is flooding the Middle East with weapons, has continued the arms race, still condones Israel’s crimes against the Palestinians and still continues to maintain draining wars and occupations that have cost the American Taxpayer hundreds of billions of dollars.

President Obama better look into this Wikileaks thing soon because, believe me, the world is looking and reading it with many more revelations to come. The Emperor is now clearly naked and unless Obama looks in the mirror and dramatically changes course ~ his administration will wash up on the rocks of a one term presidency with Afghanistan clearly visible as the albatross around his neck.

Although the Wikileaks site has lost its domain name service - meaning its web address Wikileaks.org no longer works - the site can still be accessed via its less user-friendly IP address: http://213.251.145.96. http://www.nbr.co.nz/article/wikileaks-offline-faces-triple-threat-134238

Ellsberg Supports Wikileaks Afghan Occupation Diaries

ELLSBERG SUPPORTS WIKILEAKS AFGHAN OCCUPATION DIARIES

Daniel Ellsberg. (Photo: jdlasica)

Daniel Ellsberg agrees that The Wikileaks Afghan Occupation Diaries will join the Vietnam Pentagon Papers as a turning point of moral truth in the current Afghanistan stalemate ~ which also cannot answer the two key questions as to why are we there and why are we continuing this expensive exercise in futility: Allen L Roland

The Wikileaks Afghan Occupation Diaries are a shot across the bow of the Obama Administration. On Wednesday, Democratic Sens. Russ Feingold (D-Wisconsin) and Jim Webb (D-Virginia) sent a
letter to the White House asking President Obama to refrain from making any major commitments to Afghanistan without the consent of the Senate "We do not believe that a long-term, open-ended presence of U.S. military forces in Afghanistan serves our national interest," the senators wrote.

As a senator, Obama supported a similar request sent to President Bush in 2007 regarding Iraq ~ but the publication of the Wikileak Dairies appears to be having the same effect as the pentagon papers had with the Vietnam conflict.

Before WikiLeaks, before the Afghanistan war, before the Internet, a defense analyst named Daniel Ellsberg rocked America in 1971 when he leaked to the newspapers of the day a top-secret study of US decisionmaking in Vietnam. The documents came to be known as the 'Pentagon Papers'.
Ellsberg was also castigated by the financial elite as well as various Senators and Congressman but his papers laid bare the truth of a Vietnam quagmire mired in denial and ineptitude.

Recently, the Monitor's Gloria Goodale talked to Mr. Ellsberg, who now lives in California, for his unique perspective on the recently released Wikileaks Afghan Occupation papers ~ which also lay bare the truth of an Afghan quagmire mired in denial and ineptitude.

Excerpt: Why it Is Important That This Kind of Information Gets Out ?

Ellsberg: " One of the most important messages or conclusions to be drawn from the Pentagon Papers 40 years ago is what they didn’t reveal, and that was: In some 7,000 pages of high-level discussions, they didn’t reveal a single compelling or even remotely realistic basis for continuing the war. Nor did they answer the question of: Why are we there? And that’s the conclusion: that there wasn’t an answer to be given. It couldn’t be inferred from a very small release of papers, say 10 pages or 20 pages. You really had to see that, year after year, nobody was coming up with or reporting any kind of success. "

" And the same is true with this six-year ( Afghan ) compilation to show that, year after year, the process really isn’t changing, and that the more we increased our presence in Afghanistan, the stronger the Taliban was growing. I’m sure, by the way, that this is still the case. A leak I would like to see right now is what the change in Taliban strength has been over these past seven months of President Obama’s new strategy. Don’t wait for the administration to release that because I’m sure it would be very embarrassing to the strategy. I’m sure that their official estimates of Taliban strength as of July are greater than the estimate in December when Obama initiated that strategy. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Wednesday called for the criminal prosecution of Wikileaks, the website that courageously published classified military documents this week. "I’m willing to prosecute anybody who led to undermining the war effort," Graham proclaimed during an appearance on Fox News.

Excuse me, Senator Graham ~ but this is not a war but an illegal and morally unjust occupation that an increasing amount of Veterans, including myself, are rightfully speaking out against.

Here's one of them, Mike Prysner, proclaiming recently that The Real Terrorist was Himself " Our real enemies are not those living in a distant land whose names or policies we don't understand; The real enemy is a system that wages war when it's profitable, the CEOs who lay us off our jobs when it's profitable, the Insurance Companies who deny us Health care when it's profitable, the Banks who take away our homes when it's profitable. Our enemies are not several hundred thousands away. They are right here in front of us. "

We came within 31 votes of stopping the recently passed War supplemental bill of over 30 Billion dollars for Afghanistan. This unjust occupation can be stopped ~ but only if we the people let our voices not only be heard but be registered in petitions, letters and votes in November.
Sign our petition to the Democratic and Republican National Committees to tell them you vote, and you demand an end to this occupation

As Arthur Schopenhauer once wrote ~ All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed, Second, it is violently opposed and finally it is accepted as being self-evident.
With the publishing of the Wikileaks dairies ~ the sad truth of the Afghanistan Occupation is obviously becoming self evident.

World's Number One Whistleblower / Julian Assange

WORLD'S NUMBER ONE WHISTLEBLOWER / JULIAN ASSANGE

Julian Assange, the elusive founder of WikiLeaks, is dedicated to transparency and truth in a world of deception and lies. His whistleblower platform has already unmasked atrocities in Iraq, Army procurement scandals in Iraq and now atrocities and scandals in Afghanistan. Like a caped Avenger ~ He will soon be zeroing in on several more abuses of power: Allen L Roland

I'm a firm believer that when arrogance, deceit and abuse of power become truly oppressive ~ as they did under the Cheney/Bush administration ~ a door will eventually open and expose this dark world of darkness to the blinding light of the truth.

The stage for that event to happen was when President Obama chose to follow the same deceptive game plan as the Bush administration in Afghanistan. Julian Assange has now opened that door and, in so doing, has set the stage for others to come forth and fully expose this world of deception and lies.

This elusive caped Avenger has become the world's number one whistleblower and his relevations will not only eventually help bring down the Oligarchy but will mark the beginning of a shift in planetary consciousness to a world cemented in truth, transparency and mutual cooperation ~ which are always the first steps towards permenent change.

The Afghan Occupation Diaries are just as important as the Pentagon Papers with this reminder ~ there are 15,000 more revealing papers due if the Obama Administration continues to ignore the vast majority of the American people who want to end this expensive and purposeless adventure in futility.

Julian Assange on the Afghanistan war logs: 'They show the true nature of this war': Video: Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks, explains why he decided to publish thousands of secret US military files on the war in Afghanistan. (4 minute Video) http://bit.ly/cvBI06

Download Afghan War Diary, 2004-2010 http://wikileaks.org/wiki/Afghan_War_Diary,_2004-2010

The center of American Progress hits the key aspect of this Afghan Diary ~ REPORT LINKS CIVILIAN DEATHS AND RECRUITMENT FOR INSURGENCY IN AFGHANISTAN: " The WikiLeaks disclosure of thousands of pages of military documents dealing with the war in Afghanistan highlights, among other things, "how coalition forces have killed hundreds of civilians in unreported incidents." This is a particularly important disclosure in light of a report released earlier this month by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). NBER's report, "The Effect of Civilian Casualties in Afghanistan and Iraq," concludes that blowback in the population from civilian casualties caused by international forces in Iraq and Afghanistan is a considerable problem the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) faces in Afghanistan. It finds "strong evidence for a revenge effect in that local exposure to ISAF generated civilian casualties drives increased insurgent violence over the long-run." The BBC notes NBER's findings that "in areas where two civilians were killed or injured by Nato...there were on average an extra six violent incidents between insurgents and US-led troops in the following six weeks." NBER observed how, "when Isaf units kill civilians, [it] increases the number of willing combatants, leading to an increase in insurgent attacks," and "local exposure to violence from Isaf appears to be the primary driver of this effect." The report also concludes that Gen. Stanley McChrystal's new rules of engagement imposed upon soldiers under his command in Afghanistan "led to a decline in attacks by insurgent fighters." Gen.l David Petraeus, who has just taken command of American forces in Afghanistan, is currently reviewing McChrystal's rules and is considering altering them.http://pr.thinkprogress.org/2010/07/pr20100727

A recent national Bloomberg poll found that 58% of Americans considered the war effort a "lost cause," while Gallup has indicated a steady increase in the percentage of Americans who believe sending U.S. forces to Afghanistan in 2001 was a mistake ~ from 30% when Obama took office to 38% today.

In a SPIEGEL interview, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, 39, discussed his decision to publish the Afghanistan war logs, the difficult balance between the public interest and the need for state secrets and why he believes people who wage war are more dangerous than him.

SPIEGEL: " During the Vietnam War, US President Richard Nixon once called Daniel Elsberg, the leaker of the Pentagon Papers, the most dangerous man in America. Are you today's most dangerous man or the most endangered? "

ASSANGE: " The most dangerous men are those who are in charge of war. And they need to be stopped. If that makes me dangerous in their eyes, so be it .... I enjoy creating systems on a grand scale, and I enjoy helping people who are vulnerable. And I enjoy crushing bastards. So it is enjoyable work. "
http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2010/07/26-0

In that regard, it appears that Afghanistan is not only the proven graveyard of Empires but it could well be the graveyard of President Obama ~ if he continues to expedite an obvious lost cause.

Wikileaks has taken a major step towards illuminating this lost cause and Julian Assange is not only a true patriot but, like Daniel Ellsberg, has performed a public service.

Sign our petition to the Democratic and Republican National Committees to tell them you vote, and you demand an end to this occupation.
