Nuclear War, brought to you and celebrated by fear driven neocon idiots and
corporate media
J. Robert Oppenheimer was appointed technical director of the Manhattan
Project in 1942. Under his guidance, the creation of the first atomic bomb
occurred within three years which set in motion the development of a military
weapon to eventually a weapon of potential mass genocide with Edward Teller's
H bomb and the means to totally destroy our world ~ but was this barbaric act
in 1945 really necessary : Allen L Roland, Ph.D
"I
have become Death, the destroyer of worlds" ~ Robert Oppenheimer,
Creator of First Atomic Bomb after explosion of first bomb.
Those of you still not convinced by the destruction of an Atomic Bomb, please watch this coroner's report on the effects of the Atomic bomb. 3 minute video ~ An allied correspondent stands in a sea of rubble before the shell of a building in Hiroshima September 8, 1945, a month after the first atomic bomb ever used in warfare was dropped by the US. (AP Photo/Stanley Troutman) At the dawn of the nuclear age, an independent Australian journalist named Wilfred Burchett traveled to Japan to cover the aftermath of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. The only problem was that General Douglas MacArthur had declared southern Japan off-limits, barring the press. Over 200,000 people died in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but no Western journalist witnessed the aftermath and told the story. Instead, the world’s media obediently crowded onto the USS Missouri off the coast of Japan to cover the surrender of the Japanese and a daily press feed.
Defying MacArthur's
ban, in true journalistic tradition ~ Wilfred Burchett decided to strike out
on his own. He was determined to see for himself what this nuclear bomb had
done and to understand what this vaunted
new weapon was all about. So he boarded a train and traveled for thirty
hours to the city of Hiroshima in total defiance of General MacArthur’s
orders.
Burchett emerged from the train into a nightmare world. The devastation that confronted him was unlike any he had ever seen during the war. The city of Hiroshima, with a population of 350,000, had been razed. Multistory buildings were reduced to charred posts. He saw people’s shadows seared into walls and sidewalks. He met people with their skin melting off. In the hospital, he saw patients with purple skin hemorrhages, gangrene, fever, and rapid hair loss. Burchett was among the first to witness and describe radiation sickness.
Burchett sat down
on a chunk of rubble with his Baby Hermes typewriter. His dispatch began: “In
Hiroshima, thirty days after the first atomic bomb destroyed the city and
shook the world, people are still dying, mysteriously and horribly-people who
were uninjured in the cataclysm from an unknown something which I can only
describe as the atomic plague.”
He continued,
tapping out the words that still haunt us
to this day: “Hiroshima does not look like a bombed city. It looks as
if a monster steamroller has passed over it and squashed it out of existence.
I write these facts as dispassionately as I can in the hope that they will
act as a warning to the world.”
The story caused a
worldwide sensation. Burchett’s uncensored candid reaction to the horror
shocked readers. “In this first testing ground of the atomic bomb I
have seen the most terrible and frightening desolation in four years of war.
It makes a blitzed Pacific island seem like an Eden. The damage is far
greater than photographs can show… When you arrive in Hiroshima
you can look around for twenty-five and perhaps thirty square miles. You can
see hardly a building. It gives you an empty feeling in the stomach to see
such man-made destruction.”
THE
COVER UP
U.S. authorities
responded in time-honored fashion to Burchett’s revelations: They attacked the
messenger. General MacArthur ordered him expelled from Japan (the order
was later rescinded), and his camera with photos of Hiroshima
mysteriously vanished while he was in the hospital. U.S. officials accused
Burchett of being influenced by Japanese propaganda. They scoffed at the
notion of an atomic sickness. The U.S. military issued a press release
right after the Hiroshima bombing that downplayed human casualties, instead
emphasizing that the bombed area was the site of valuable industrial and
military targets ~ and they have never apologized for this avoidance of
the truth of their actions.

On
top of this official denial ~ 29 American Navy pilots, held in a Hiroshima
Jail, were incinerated on August 6, 1945 by the Atomic bomb, so why the rush?
It appears the successful testing of the first A-bomb by the
United States in the desert of New Mexico on July 16, 1945 (Trinity) ~
only the day before beginning the Potsdam summit ~ was a game changer for
the United States. They could now drop the bomb and end the war without an
invasion and without the help of the Russians ~ who were prepared to enter
the pacific campaign on August 15.
As Finian Cunningham points out on VT ~ "But the
primary US objective wasn’t to finish the Pacific War per se. American and
British military chiefs and intelligence were convinced that the mere entry
of Russia into the war against Japan would precipitate the latter’s
surrender. And besides the American invasion of mainland Japan was not
planned to take place until November 1945….. It seems clear then that the
Truman administration rushed ahead to use its new atomic weapon on Japan
because its concern was to circumscribe any advance by the Soviet Union in
Asia-Pacific. Not only was the Red Army poised to take Manchuria and the Korean
Peninsula but mainland Japan as well."
"Hiroshima and Nagasaki ~ two civilian centers of no military value ~ were thus selected as the venues for demonstrating the most spellbinding act of terror, not to an all but defeated Japan, but to the Soviet Union. The atomic bombing of Japan was therefore not the last act of the Pacific War, as the official American narrative contends, but rather it was the first, brutal act of the nascent Cold War by the US towards Soviet Russia." See article ~ http://www.veteransnewsnow.com/2015/08/04/520607-americas-barbaric-logic-of-hiroshima-70-years-on/
As such, with this awesome new weapon, U.S planners must have
quickly realized that they could finish the war against Japan without the
Soviet Union entering the Pacific theatre, by dropping the A-bomb ~ and
Hiroshima, Nagasaki as well as 29 jailed American Navy pilot prisoners became collateral damage (Sound familiar) in
their cold war maneuvering which continues to
this day.
J.
Robert Oppenheimer had little idea of the true extent of the evil he had
unleashed that infamous day in August in
1945 ~ witness his statement " I have become Death, the destroyer
of worlds " ~ but he was also later disqualified by his
colleagues and the power crazed neocon idiots as well as the corporate media
who accused him of being a communist and his security clearance was
later voided by the government. A broken man and heavy smoker, he died of
throat cancer in February of 1967.

From
1951 to 1970 the United States Government conducted over 1100 Atomic tests in
Nevada whose radiation fallout has resulted in over 200,000 deaths throughout
our country ~ instant karma for the over
200,000 deaths from the Atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945 and now Fukushima
is slowly radiating the West Coast. In less than 70 years, Karmic law has
once again asserted that those who ride the forces of evil will eventually be
crushed by the very same forces. See my article ~ http://www.veteranstoday.com/2014/08/28/instant-karma-200000-downwind-deaths-from-nevada-atomic-testing/

The
Japanese have not forgotten the Atomic bomb exploded on Hiroshima on August
6th, 1945 and also Nagasaki on August 9th, 1945 ~ whereas the true intent
of this weapon of mass destruction moved from the realm of a military weapon
to a weapon of mass genocide.
The
Japanese people have not forgotten this unnecessary genocide particularly the
Atomic attack on Nagasaki ~ but Japan's neocon leaders and corporate media
now seem to be under the sway of a call to
arms and are once again in concert with the fear driven agenda of its former occupier, the
United States of America.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Thursday [16
Jul 2015] pushed through parliament’s lower house legislation that could see
troops sent to fight abroad for the first time since World War Two, despite
protests and a risk of further damage to his sagging ratings.
A lower house panel
approval on Wednesday of these unpopular bills ~ would drop a ban on
collective self-defense or fighting to defend a friendly country like the
United States and
sparked a huge demonstration near parliament.
The protests were reminiscent of those that toppled Abe’s grandfather from the premiership 55 years ago after he rammed a revised U.S.- Japan security pact through parliament.
Organizers said
over 20,000 had gathered by about 8 p.m. on Thursday despite threatened rain,
after saying 100,000 took part the day before, when crowds swelled as the
evening wore on ~ for Japan is tired of being a
seeming American protectorate and longs to assert its true peaceful
character. See article ~ https://www.transcend.org/tms/2015/07/japans-abe-pushes-security-bills-through-lower-house-despite-protests/
Perhaps Japan needs to be reminded of the destruction of Hiroshima through the eyes of the its own people;
The following extraordinary you tube
video is all in Japanese but English subtitles are not necessary ~ for
this dramatization fully captures the joy of this typical Japanese family and then the
absolute terror and utter despair of a young Hiroshima boy and his lost
family on that fateful 6th day of August in 1945. / 10 minute video ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiKG96oRPyg
Take some time to view
these videos this week ~ but also bear in mind the tens of
thousands of innocent children who have been killed and maimed in Vietnam,
Iraq and Afghanistan under the same but now badly frayed American
imperialistic flag of freedom, liberty and its fear driven oligarchy ~ existing
under the cloak of democratic Regime Change.
DOOMSDAY
CLOCK
The alarm is sounding. Can you hear it?
Can you hear the
bells
of Nagasaki ringing out for peace? Can you feel the heartbeat of Hiroshima pulsing out for life? The survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are growing older. Their message is clear: Never again!
Wake up!
Now, before the feathered arrow is placed into the bow. Now, before the string of the bow is pulled taut, the arrow poised for flight. Now, before the arrow is let loose, before it flies across oceans and continents. Now, before we are engulfed in flames, while there is still time, while we still can, Wake up!

"Hell
is empty ~ all the devils are here" ~ William Shakespeare
Allen L Roland, PhD
Of thousands of others, nearer the centre of the explosion, there was no trace. They vanished. The theory in Hiroshima is that the atomic heat was so great that they burned instantly to ashes - except that there were no ashes.
ReplyDelete~ Wilfred Burchett
Good article, Allen. As far as I'm concerned, the lucky ones died instantly. It's the poor souls just outside the epicenter who received the ultimate dose of pain and suffering. Indeed, the ones who lingered for hours, days and weeks truly suffered a Hell I dare not imagine. May these horrible weapons never be used again!
