I can't disagree with you there. Thanks for the post.

The "scientist" approach to defining love is to first understand what _language_ is, possibly starting at the Saphir Whorf hypothesis or Chomsky's early work. Then you can start to understand what _meaning_ is beyond the biological imperatives the universe placed on us as it evolved us and biased our behaviors and cognition in the process. There are courses in the "Philosophy of Meaning" that tend to get into epistemology; that doesn't seem up your alley. In any case; my point is that "love" is the human word for our evolutionary encouraged bonding behavior. It is encouraged by way of oxytocin, dopamine, etc. This is why you feel "love". Sorry to break your heart! ;)

Here is the thing about physics: it uses physical measurements. Examples of fields that use measurements of a subjective nature include cognitive science, psychology, psychiatry, music, etc. In the first two examples, subjective experience is studied descriptively, sort of like biology doesn't say that eating babies is bad; it just says that snakes do it often and humans less so. The second two incorporate value-judgments and proscriptive thinking.
For instance "You are crazy. Here is a pill." is proscriptive. So is "Listen to my angry music! Be angry too!"

Back to physics: The Standard Model (of particle physics) is not asymptotically free. A good quantum field theory (or even a bad one) IS asymptotically free and the good theories are believed to be completely consistent down to any measurable length scale. The Big Bang MAY have a good deal to do with asymptotic freedom; imagine the "bag model"; the universe as a proton! But more well known is the "Mexican Hat Potential" used in spontaneous symmetry breaking.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9005348987698132339.post-10180942806574043422010-11-27T20:59:51.604-08:002010-11-27T20:59:51.604-08:00nice posts, thanks for the information .. please v...nice posts, thanks for the information .. please visit my backSewa Motor Jogja 081213359726https://www.blogger.com/profile/07895798285060654723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9005348987698132339.post-68647319589565645602010-11-16T12:53:35.207-08:002010-11-16T12:53:35.207-08:00Dr. Allen...you might enjoy a peak at my work in t...Dr. Allen...you might enjoy a peak at my work in this area.

http://eucharist-emc2.blogspot.com

Also Fulton J.
