SUPPORT THE TROOPS / EMPTY WORDS FOR BETRAYED DISABLED VETERANS

Pause this Memorial Day for a few moments and watch this documentary on how America has in many ways treated many of its active duty veterans like Lab Rats for the past 100 years ~ from WW I through the Gulf Wars, and still continues to pander or answer to the Military Industrial Complex: Allen L Roland, PhD and Disabled US Navy Veteran.

On Memorial Day, politicians will speak at patriotic ceremonies all over the country and repeat their favourite mantra "Support the troops."

This message is hammered, along with parades and gun salutes, into the American psyche at every turn. But there is a hidden, dark history that shows that many politicians are in fact no friend to service members ~ but in many ways, have been their greatest enemy

In Part I of this two-part episode, Abby Martin documents experimentation on US troops, from race-based chemical agent tests to nuclear weapons and Depleted Uranium ~ and it’s still happening.

And that's not even counting asbestos laden Navy Aircraft carriers, like the USS Ranger, that I flew on in 1961/62 as a proud member of the VF 92 Silver Kings and also served as the squadron ordinance officer. The Ranger has since been retired, dismantled and sold for scrap.

Take a few moments today and watch this shocking documentation of how many of our veterans have been used by the Military Industrial Complex for the past 100 years ~ and remember this video when you hear "Support the Troops"YouTube Video / 30 minutes ~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRMT1eozxPg

LOOKING FOR GOD / WITHIN THE KINGDOM OF RELIGIOUS CONFUSION ~ BOOK REVIEW

A layman's odyssey every 'open-minded' Atheist, Jew, Christian, Muslim, Agnostic or Spiritual seeker must read!

Art Schade's tour de force work of creative fiction which focuses on looking for God in a world of religious confusion brought me face to face with how differently, regardless of religion, we all interpret God in a time of crisis ~ and yet how similar many of these interpretations seem to appear in regards to a God of love, empathy and compassion: Allen L Roland, PhD

Art Schade / Author

Art Schade is a Marine and Vietnam combat Veteran, ~ with over 28 successful years in corporate executive marketing, business development and sales with IBM. Art retired early, determined to write about two questions that had haunted him since Vietnam - 'how to help myself and others break the stigma of PTSD,' and 'why a loving God allows the atrocities and barbaric actions of war?'

In this dramatic tour de force, Schade recreates the tragic loss of his marine buddies by creating his fictionalized daughter Jessica being killed in an automobile accident before his horrified and anguished eyes;

" Where is God " he screamed as he cradled her tangled lifeless body in his arms. " Where is God " he demanded.

"It was the same plea he shouted decades before on the battlefields of Vietnam, when he held the dead or mutilated bodies of brother marines.

" Where is God ? " He sobbingly repeated, not exactly expecting an answer.

He suddenly heard a voice behind him ~ a stranger hoping to comfort him said, " She is with God," ~ Jacob did not respond, as he continued to stare down at his beloved daughter Jessica.

" How the hell do you know she is with God ~ why did God take her in the first place? She should be with me " ~ Jacob screamed.

The stranger ignored Jacob's anger, and bent down and wrapped his strong arms tenderly around both of them tearfully embracing them until the police and ambulance arrived.

Devastated by his young daughter's tragic death, Jacob is determined to find God to ask Him why He allowed this tragedy to occur. No longer sure where to find Him, or if God truly exists, Jacob travels through the 'Ancient Gates of Abraham' to wander across the contradictory and prejudiced roads within the Kingdom of Religious Confusion.

Repeatedly challenged to remain open-minded he engages religious leaders, devout followers, agnostics and atheists along passages as 'Born again Street', 'Fundamentalist Drive', 'Junction of the Majority', 'Path of Disbelief', and many more, in commonsense conversations to understand why their philosophy alone will lead him to God, or prove God's non-existence.

Yet the further he travels the more confused he becomes, and it is not until his arduous journey nears its end that he recognizes a culminating revelation - an insight he was not expecting to unearth."

                                                                           *

We believe God transcends all time, is always among us and knows all things past, present and future ~ but was it possible that the stranger who comforted Jacob in his anguish over the loss of his daughter and wrapped his strong arms tenderly around both of them tearfully embracing them until the police and ambulance arrived was actually a manifestation of God.

And Jacobs sudden realization that he had never thanked that stranger was an indication that the God he was fervently searching for was always deepest within himself ~ for god only reveals itself to a grateful heart.

A fact I have proved and demonstrated in my work over the past 45 years ~ particularly with Combat Veterans with PTSD and in my book RADICAL THERAPY, SURRENDER TO LOVE AND HEAL YOURSELF IN SEVEN  SESSIONS (not seven years).

The key to the Kingdom of Religious confusion is gratitude and self-forgiveness and Arthur Schade's book is an ambitious step toward the ultimate realization that the God we are all seemingly seeking resides within ourselves ~ within a Unified Field of love, joy and soul consciousness which resides not only beyond time and space but also beneath our deepest fears ~ as it most certainly did within the stranger who was there for Jacob and his daughter Jessica.

I have been that empathetic stranger many times in my work with combat Veterans with PTSD ~ for example, in one our Band of Brothers groups about a year ago, one of our Vietnam Veterans had recently lost his beloved aunt and was beside himself in grief.

I purposely sat next to him consoling him but also mentioned that he should celebrate the great gift his aunt was in his life and remember all the wonderful things about her versus grieving her. If he indeed began to celebrate her from a place of celebration and joy, reminding her that she still lived in his heart ~ she would make her presence known to him via a dream or vision and let him know that she was now at peace and still loved him deeply ~ much as my late mother did with me, the night she died in 1987. See  http://www.veteranstoday.com/2012/05/12/memories-of-my-mom/

And that is precisely what happened to him for within two weeks, he told us about a recent vivid dream where she told him that she was now at peace and reminded him that she will always be living in his heart. He was now at peace himself and reflected that inner joy and inner peace of knowing that he is still loved.

That incident was a wonderful reminder that those who we love deeply become part of us forever ~ for they are now in a Unified Field of love and soul consciousness that exists beyond time and space ~ just as my mother, grandfather and late twin will always live in my heart forever.

But that incident could also be interpreted as blasphemous or the work of the devil by the religious right ~ as has been mentioned to me many times.

I have also been Jacob ~ broken by unforeseen events to the point of hopelessness and despair and at just the right moment, a stranger appeared, helped me and took me by the hand and said "Everything is going to be all right " and I knew God had intervened much as Jacobs stranger.

But I also later sought that stranger out and thanked him for being there for me which is why this great truth has been revealed to me. For to me, God is love, an evolutionary process with which we all participate as co-creators.

I am also indebted to Arthur Schade for this important informative and moving book as well as providing a much needed reminder that we no longer have to look outside for God, for God lies deepest within ourselves and will only reveal itself to a grateful heart.

Read Schade's spiritual journey and discover for yourself your God within the kingdom of Religious Confusion ~ and celebrate it as I am now celebrating it with you.

THE ULTIMATE GRADUATION SPEECH BY OLIVER STONE

Oliver Stone / Filmmaker

Oliver Stone just gave the ultimate commencement address at the University of Connecticut and it was remarkable for both its candor and cold hard truth ~ for what the average college graduate of today will most likely be facing in our interconnected world is that the ultimate gift they are searching for may just be the act of finding themselves and making a difference: Allen L Roland, PhD

"I am done with great things and big things and great institutions and big successes, and I am for those tiny invisible molecular moral forces that work from individual to individual, creeping through the crannies of the world like so many rootlets or like the capillary oozing water, yet which, if you give them time , will bend the hardest monuments of human pride," ~ William James

Key excerpts from Oliver Stone's address;

" But the truth for me was that Yale was so incredibly difficult academically, and competitive in all things, that my 4 gruelling years of preparation at a boys’ boarding school in Pennsylvania were not sufficient to compete. And the freedom given by the College was far too liberal for my discipline. Basically, all of a sudden, we were on our own ~ study when you want; eat, sleep when you want; do what you want. Go to New York City for a week, it doesn’t matter. No one really cares as long as you pass the course. That was the point, no one cared, there was no headmaster around to scare the shit out of you. I barely survived the first year, failed Greek, and just made it through the most abstract course I ever had ~ Economics. And after trying, I also failed to make any of the serious athletic teams. I was just another mediocrity and I quit school, shaken and depressed

I think, more importantly, I couldn’t stand any longer the air of Ivy League superiority and competition. There was a lack, essentially, of humanity ~ a compulsive need to out-do your fellow man. I wanted something gentler, something like I’d seen in Asia, an ability simply to breathe a natural life. So I abandoned school once again, but it was clear this time there was no going back. In fact, I’d failed every single one of my courses. That’s pretty hard to do, 4 out of 4 zeros.

I had no real skills or earning power. I decided I had nothing to lose, so I’d join the Army, specifically the Infantry, and go to the front lines in Vietnam. And if it was intended by the Greek gods, or the monotheistic God from the Bible ~ either way ~ I was putting it on the line. The divine forces would cast their decision, and I’d either live or die.

After 15 months of… let’s say another kind of world, I went back to the US with no idea of what to do and no skills except camping, surviving, hunting, and not sleeping very well ~ all those (coming Home) fantasies died on the return, and my buddies went to other small towns and rarely did we see each other again. This reality, along with something we didn’t know much about at the time, since called PTSD, left us each in some dark holes. People simply didn’t understand because that war was crazy and made no sense. How can you explain it when it makes no sense?

After months of low-level depression, an old school friend who’d graduated from Yale was pursuing a career making low-budget porno films ~ and making money at it; he told me I could actually go to one of these new “film schools”, and I could get 80% of my tuition paid from the GI Bill.

But it was really a vocational school for me. I was older than the others. It was difficult for me to readjust to the mentality. I was quiet and didn’t mingle much. These students were in another world, and they probably looked at me like I was the guy in “Taxi Driver” who ends up blowing up the class.

But I had fun there. I also learned the beginnings of a skill. And then after 6/7 years of professional rejection and writing a lot of speculative scripts, making low-budget films, breaks started coming my way, and I actually made it into the film business with some success. In fact, much to my Father’s inability to think it possible, I actually started to make a living at this film thing.

I think a point to be made of this experience is no matter how dark it gets early, don’t get too down on yourself. You have ~ you may not know them ~ hidden talents, skills, passions. You simply cannot recognize it yet. So listen to the wind. The answer might be blowing right past you... But although I now had a degree and some success, I didn’t really have an education. Learning a trade is not a complete experience. I was a partly educated writer-director who’d never really studied with any rigor history, mathematics, English, science. All I had was curiosity, and thank god for that.

Please don’t ever forget that Edward Snowden was 29 years old when he challenged this system on behalf of us all ~ just a few years older than you.

He’s an avatar for your generation. Do not be cynical and say, ‘Privacy? So what? I have nothing to hide.’ Because when you’re older you might understand what you’re surrendering without knowing it is your greatest secret of all ~ yourself.

* Allen's note ~ See official trailer on Stone's SNOWDEN / Two minutes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlSAiI3xMh4

And in closing, I’d suggest you take a year off and do nothing! Be a bum ~ or do something you’ve never done before. If you choose nothing, see for yourself if being a lazy person works for you or it bores you. Sit on a bench, walk around, fish. But go to the end of that feeling and find out for yourself. Be a janitor. Clean hotel rooms. Work with your hands. Learn how to plant, grow, cook. Travel to foreign countries second/third class and see how you relate to all kinds people and challenges. Above all, even if you want to make a fortune as quickly as you can, I urge you to break your pattern here and now, and don’t do what you did for 4 years.

So, go in peace, love justice and mercy ~ and do well by this world. Thank you."

In other words, find your passion and live it with joy, intention and purpose and in the process make a difference ~ that in itself sums up the ultimate commencement address as well as offers us the perfect epitaph for a life well spent.

JOHN BRADSHAW / FATHER OF INNER CHILD MOVEMENT PASSES ON AT 82

John Bradshaw, a pioneer in the self-healing movement and author of Reclaiming and Healing your Inner child was an important and underrated compass in the field of humanistic psychology. Bradshaw correctly maintained that our ultimate home coming was reclaiming a lost and alone child within ourselves and set the stage for my work in reclaiming the soul of that lost child by jump starting their hearts through gratefulness and forgiveness: Allen L Roland, PhD

"Being abandoned through the neglect of our developmental dependency needs is the major factor in becoming an adult child. We grow up; we look like adults. We walk and talk like adults, but beneath the surface is a little child who feels empty and needy, a child whose needs are insatiable because he has a child’s needs in an adult body. This insatiable child is the core of all compulsive/addictive behavior.”
~ John Bradshaw, Healing the Shame that Binds You

Only William Grimes, New York Times, chose to publicly mark the Death of Self-Help Evangelist John Bradshaw on May 12, 2016  ~~

"John Bradshaw, whose ideas about family dysfunction and the damaged “inner child” concealed within most adults made him one of the most popular and influential self-help evangelists of the 1990s, died on Sunday in Houston. He was 82.

The cause was heart failure, his son, John Jr., said.

Mr. Bradshaw drew on his unhappy childhood as the son of an alcoholic father, his own drinking problems and his work as a counselor to develop a set of explanations for myriad psychological ills.

In his television shows on PBS and in books like “Bradshaw On: The Family” (1986) and “Homecoming: Reclaiming and Championing Your Inner Child” (1990), he argued that millions of adults fail to achieve healthy relationships because they have never come to terms with the shame, self-blame and “toxic guilt” caused by parental abuse, physical or emotional.

Until they learned to seek out and heal the hurt child within, he said, most adults stumbled through life, expressing their pain through self-destructive behavior and entering into unhappy love relationships with similarly damaged partners, each hoping to find in the other a loving, approving parent."  See Grimes Article ~ http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/13/books/john-bradshaw-self-help-evangelist-dies-at-82.html?emc=edit_th_20160513&nl=todaysheadlines&nlid=65700837&_r=0

John Bradshaw in action

In lectures attended by up to 7,000 people in the 1990's, and in smaller workshops (some of which I attended) he led audiences through “grief work” exercises intended to make them travel back in time and face themselves as they once were as children ~ small, frightened and alone and most certainly confirmed by Bradshaw's  own life experience ~ “When I walked out of the seminary, I was 31, but I was like a scared, frightened kid,” he told People magazine in 1990. “I had no place to live, no license, no clothes. I was just a lost soul"

I am indebted to John Bradshaw for using his own tortured childhood experiences to find and identify the Well of Grief that many of us experienced in our own dysfunctional families ~ but I courageously surrendered to and went beneath that well of grief and found a spring of joy, love and soul consciousness ~ a  Unified Field   of love, joy and soul consciousness that lay not only beyond time and space but also beneath our deepest fears.

Bradshaw definitely sensed what lay beneath his personal pain but could never quite surrender to or trust the joy of soul consciousness ~ but knew unconditional love was the path toward finding it.

“Giving and receiving unconditional love is the most effective and powerful way to personal wholeness and happiness.”
~ John Bradshaw, Healing the Shame that Binds You

John sensed this same great truth that I know and own but his work most definitely inspired me to not only find and share the truth of this Unified field of love and joy that lay beneath our deepest pain but also to write about it and demonstrate it in my heart centered counseling / consulting work with both Combat veterans as well as civilians with PTHD ~ Post Traumatic Heart Disorder.

Dr Stanley Krippner explains my work in the foreword of my book "No psychiatric manual lists "soul loss" as a condition in need of treatment but shamans tell me that "soul loss" is widespread in contemporary society ~ Allen Roland has had the insight to understand what the shamans have told me and he also has developed the skills to help his clients regain their souls."

To elaborate on Dr Krippner' s words, I have developed the skills to help my clients regain their souls over the past 45 years by being their coach and not their therapist ~ by jump starting their hearts through an action based self-healing process which stresses love, gratefulness and forgiveness and then coaching them through their deepest fears to the love, joy and a state of soul consciousness deepest intention within them which I have identified as the Unified Field. As such, they begin to see through different eyes .

They all have access to these self-healing steps in my updated Kindle Book RADICAL THERAPY, SURRENDER TO LOVE AND HEAL YOURSELF IN SEVEN  SESSIONS (not seven years). Here is the Kindle link http://www.amazon.com/Radical-Therapy-Surrender-Yourself-Sessions-ebook/dp/B00JGE5VQE

And here's a link to the YouTube Skype sessions of the self-healing process I teach and coach ~ Watch, in the first 20 minutes of session five, how Marina conquers her deepest fear (her well of grief) by going through it and then demonstrate that beneath her pain and fear is boundless joy. See video  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r12MoNnwPKg&feature=youtu.be

The gift I give my clients, particularly combat veterans, is the gift of the honest, free and joyous gift of myself as well as a clear demonstration of what it's like to be in the field and not be controlled by fear. Reading the first nine chapters of my book is a prerequisite before our first session (either Skype or in person) where I literally take them by the hand and tell them that "It's Your Turn!"

It is here, at the point of heart based action, that the soul connection is established. Through their life chart ~ they connect the dots of all their important love relationships ~ and then the inner soul light goes on because their homework is to thank these people and tell them why they are or have been a gift in their life. This action based gratitude homework leads them through their fears and to the life changing realization that they were loved and are now actually loving and healing themselves.

They slowly begin to see through different eyes ~ eyes unclouded by fear and pain and a light at the end of their tunnel of despair.

And I, as their coach versus therapist, empower them to give that scared and alone child a voice and become their friend forever for I have also touched their hearts with my empowering work and unconditional love ~ much as Bradshaw did with his ground breaking work and books in the 1990's.

All the sessions and exercises are geared toward my clients regaining their souls ~ for the vast majority of my clients have had significant birth trauma or early childhood trauma ~ whereas psychic pain has overridden their inherent joy as well as a state of soul consciousness. From that Well of Grief they created an ego as well as a protective cocoon of ego consciousness ~ for it was seemingly their only choice for survival.

Unfortunately, most of us go through our lives recreating our original pain and aloneness in our relationships ~ not realizing that beneath that well of grief is our original joy, intention and purpose as well as our innate connection to the Unified Field and a state of love and soul consciousness.

It is within that cocoon of ego consciousness that the innocent and fearful child emotionally resides waiting to be seen and touched through unconditional love and then empowered to say yes to themselves and no longer be controlled by fear.

This risk taking homework of gratitude inspires people to take action and encounter their deepest fears, confront and go beneath their pain and finally surrender to the love and joy deepest within themselves ~ as well as reunite with a Unified Field of love and soul consciousness that exists not beyond time and space and also beneath their deepest fears. The key to the kingdom of the soul is gratitude for God (a loving plan in action) only reveals itself to a grateful heart.

At four years old, while living with my grandfather,  I knew ~ for a few moments ~ that I was a beloved and essential part of a loving universe ~ I was in the Unified Field of love and soul consciousness.

Two years later, while still living in New England, I was suddenly taken away from my grandfather, my heart closed and I checked out. In essence, I stopped emotionally growing and for the next 30 years that transcendent moment of soul consciousness remained buried beneath a well of grief, a mantle of psychic pain, aloneness and despair ~ it hurt too deeply to feel anything deeply. But in the midst of that initial pain, I had a vision of the Golden Gate bridge, water and houses ~ a moment in time precognitive vision that I would eventually walk into 40 years later and once again see through his eyes. See post on walking into that precognitive vision ~

Similar to John Bradshaw,  my whole lifetime narrative became an unconscious Quest to find that little boy and empower him to feel and love that deeply again as well as own and share his joyful truth with the world.

In essence, the psychic pain of being seemingly separated from love is so great that emotionally we stop growing and our lives become a quest to recreate that pain in a subconscious attempt to go beneath that pain and reunite with our original state of wholeness and joy.

As such, all of our love relationships are steps on this quest until we finally embrace the grand prize ~ our authentic self and our part in a universal loving plan ~ the Unified Field .

Thus, my whole life has been a journey to surrender to love, fully open my heart and eventually see through that child's innocent and knowing eyes again ~ and courageously share what I see as I am doing now with you.

See my VT Article on owning the great truth of a Unified Field of love ~ http://www.veteranstoday.com/2016/01/18/on-turning-82-and-owning-a-great-truth/

Finally, Lincoln Barnett ( who wrote The Universe and Dr Einsteincid:image002.gif@01CCFD04.70EE8C80 ) writes of the eventual philosophical triumph of the discovery of a Unified Field;

"The great philosophical triumph of any Unified Field theory is implicit in the first word of its title. For it will carry to logical fulfillment the long course of science towards the unification of man's concepts of the physical world.

For from its august perspective, the entire universe would appear as one elemental field in which each atom, each flying electron, each star, each wandering comet and slow-wheeling galaxy is seen to be but a ripple or tumescence in the underlying space-time unity."

And so a profound simplicity would supplant the surface complexity of nature. Thus all man's perceptions of the world and all his abstract intuitions of reality would merge finally into one, and the deep underlying unity of the universe would be laid bare"

Teilhard de Chardin implied the reality of such a Unified Field when he posited the existence of a universal soul that united and joined the universe and all humanity through love .

In his last unpublished work, Le Christique (The Promised Land) ~ Teilhard wrote of the inevitable consequences that will arise when this truth appears:

"Sooner or later there will be a chain reaction .. for the truth has to appear only once, in one single mind, for it to be impossible for anything ever to prevent it from spreading universally and setting everything ablaze"

And the fiery truth is that the original joy within us is God ~ for God is love. Love itself is the ultimate life force, love alone lies as the foundation of a vast evolutionary process.

"Love alone is capable of uniting living beings in such a way as to complete and fulfill them for it alone takes them and joins them by what is deepest within themselves" Teilhard de Chardin

Each of us participates in this joyous evolution as co-creators who are willing to go out and set everything ablaze by opening our hearts, claiming our gifts and playing our unique part in a universal loving plan.

Jesus, Buddha and all the great spiritual figures were in this sense divinely human. They were all evolutionary forerunners of a state of love and soul consciousness that we can and must attain in order to evolve ~ they were all in a  Unified Field that transcends time and space.

John Bradshaw led us, through his work, to the psychic pain of the well of grief that separates us from this great internal truth and I in turn have fully surrendered to that well of grief from a place of accountability and gratefulness and discovered and identified that beneath it is a deeper truth ~ a spring of love, joy, intention and purpose which still governs my life of heart based service.

The deep underlying unity of the universe is a psychic energy field of love and soul consciousness the Unified Field ~ which exists not only beyond time and space but also beneath our deepest fears and we resist its universal pull and urge to unite at our collective peril.

I am very aware that there is a gentle pull from deepest within ourselves calling us into universal service from a place of love, joy and soul consciousness and listening to and responding to that call has led me to my greatest joy and sense of universal belonging.

"The thread of all sustaining beauty that runs through all and doth all unite" ~ Longfellow

And this is the truth that shall set everything ablaze!
